Aloha!

I have been dancing hula for most of my life. I will be 65 years old in October.

I was raised in Hawaiian and hula culture since 8 years old through my mom's side `ohana, Aunties Margaret, Betty and with Uncle Thomas Keahi. Through Auntie Margaret I basically only learned hapa haole hula.

I was raised both in San Diego and, Hanawana Maui.

I lived on Maui for 26 years of my life.

I lived Lahaina side (most of my adult life), Hanawana and Honokohau, in my younger days growing up.

I left Maui to live in San Diego in 2002.

I have been Kumu Hula for Halau Hula O Malulani since 2004.

I was given HA from Kumu Hula Kulia Rodriguez of Maui, before her passing in 2005 to continue onward as Kumu Hula.

I was given the kuleana as Kumu Hula in 2005 up in Haleakala Maui through a small `uniki ceremony.

I was then inducted into Kulia i ka Punawai Kumu Hula Association of So.Ca. in 2006.

Since 2004 I have been guided by Kumu Hula Anne Blankenship of Ka Lei Aloha o Hula, who studied under Hoakalei Kamau`u, and `Iolani Luahine, and with Kumu Hula Ali`i Kahuna Nui Ehulani Stephany of Halau Hula Ka Makani Hali `Ala O Puna to date, who studied under Uncle George Naope and Ray Fonseca., as well as na Kumu from Kulia i ka Punawai Kumu Hula Assoc. and other Kumu Hula `ohana, such as Liana Iona of Na Lei `O Liana, whose studied under Ray Fonseca and Uncle George Naope.

I have been fortunate enough through many workshops to have learned na oli and hula from many esteemed Kumu Hula such as Uncle John Kaimikaua (note: through Uncle John, I learned mostly the spirituality of hula, and lei making), Loea Kawaikapuokalani Hewitt, Dr. Taupouri Tangaro, Kekuhi Keali`ikanaka`olehaililani, Kaumakaiwa Kanaka`ole, Keali`i Reichel.

Through Kulia i ka Punawai Kumu Hula Assoc. of So. Ca. I have been blessed and fortunate for 15 years to be a member of and, to have taught for 10 years at our "Punawai Hula Camp. Participant of our "E Lili`u E", Lili`uokalani concert and CD, Kaulana Na Pua concert and CD.

Participant for San Diego's Ho'olaulea`a for 10 years.

E Hula Mau Competition in Calif. for 4 years.

I was haumana with Kekuhi through all 4 sessions of Papa Oli Honua, and presently 40, 400, 4000.

In addition, I am a participant of Pule Ho`ola with Dr. Kalei Nu`uhiwa.
